Abstract
In upholstery, polyurethane (PUR) foam is often used for its flexibility. However, it would be environmentally beneficial to replace PUR with bio-based alternatives. Therefore, this paper explores producing foam-like lattice structures from a bio-based polyamide material using additive manufacturing. The paper focuses on the effects of print orientation on the compressive behaviour of three lattice topologies. The results show that material failure and deformation behaviour are affected by print orientation, while the amount of plastic deformation is more dependent on the lattice topology.
